About the band/artist
Chubibo is all about energy, attitude and split personalities.

The Chubibo sound is very much likened to experiencing its carnival namesake. Adrenalin-filled performances and in-your-face rock savvy take you on a seemingly harmless but wild, unpredictable and edgy ride.

Irene Tan–Gurango's saccharine, schoolgirl vocals spikes up the thick and heady instrumentals delivered by Monsi Simon and David Sison on guitars, Doc Urbino on bass and Nico Pineda on drums, and we cant forget to mention the additon of guitarist David Gomez...adding his progressive style of raping guitar licks. Given the varying backgrounds and musical preferences of each member, the composite that is Chubibo is a happy blend of classic southern rock, blues, disco and punk.

Consider the sexy and bluesy Mahiwagang Kamay versus the straight-up pop Patawad. Or the poignant and melancholic Itulog Na against the very danceable Interstellar Baby. Or the punk beats and tongue-in-cheek lyrics of Ted Is Dead back-to-back with the dreamy, ethereal Flight.

Chubibo has steadily built a loyal fan base since it began in 2003 somewhere between U.P. Diliman and it's first gig in Intramuros, Manila. The four-track EP Ride All You Can, released in 2005, only helped the band gain stronger ground.

The quintet has further lent its brand of rock to the 2006 Buhay Coke advertising campaign, joining Sandwich, Up Dharma Down, Radioactive Sago Project and Aizo, among others.

The group's heavier punk version of Sampaguita's "Sayang" is part of Bagong Banda Awit ni Sampaguita, the tribute album to the Filipino rock goddess produced by Ballyhoo Records.

Chubibo's debut album, Rawr!, testifies to the multiple personality / manic depressive prognosis the band has given itself. The 13 tracks oscillate from moody and dramatic to down right perky. But contrast is a good thing, proving that things are far from boring when the music is slightly psychotic. Rawr! co-producer Angee Rozul (who has previously worked with Parokya ni Edgar, Wolfgang, Razorback and other major rock acts) effectively helps to harness the wild energy into one slammin' thrill ride.
