About the band/artist
Band History:

JUANLUNA took 10 years in the making. Back in 1996, Ye and Ubit were part of a band that eventually got disbanded after college graduation, the reality of “employment” kicked-in and band members started looking for day jobs. But the love for music and the idea of performing live never left both their minds and hearts. Four years after the blood brothers got the chance to meet again. At that time acoustic music was popular and so the two wandering souls tried to relive their passion for music thus resulting to the birth of LUNCHBOX, an acoustic band. Lunchbox’s life lasted for several years changing venues and members overtime. By the year 2006, Ye and Ubit felt the need to go back and fulfill their longtime frustration, create and perform their own music.

During the same year Mayang was also venturing into the idea of performing in a full band. Originally a rhythm guitar player, Ubit convinced her to switch and play the bass instead. She did oblige and so together with Ye and Ubit they formed LUNA, a three-piece band.

After several months of practicing and performing the idea of having a session guitarists popped up. The group played with several guys but eventually got Gb Labrador as a permanent member in 2007.

LUNA was changed to JUANLUNA for the following reasons: there is already an existing band based in CANADA who uses LUNA as their name; and in terms of identity the group felt that it would be more fitting to have the name of a Filipino national artist – a person who used his craft, his artistry, to convey his (socially) relevant messages.

Currently, the band has 13 original songs: Sandali lang, Kalye, Kapayapaan, Bangungot, Linggo, Take Me Back, Love Song #5, Tulog, Big City, I’ll Find You, A Song You Knew, Put your Hand in Me and You’re Beatiful. They also play cover songs from The Jerks, The Youth, and Juan dela Cruz.

Venues Performed at: Club Dredd (Libis), Saguijo (Makati), Mag:net (Katipunan), Bela Bar (San Juan), Rock Candy (Makati), Purple Haze (Tomas Morato), The Porch (Katipunan Extension) Kublai’s (Katipunan) Club V (Makati), Kolumn Bar (Timog), Brickroad (Sta. Lucia), Live Van and Bloogum (Marikina); TWH 23rd anniversary and PLMar Battle of the Bands 2007 & 2008, PLMar Faculty Concert (as guest band).
